DSC_0375.jpg

Isabel Rodriguez was born and raised In Santa Fe New Mexico, where she spent her childhood engulfed in a world of art and exploration. This led here to pursue a double major in Science and art at Adams State University. She is currently a BA candidate in Drawing and a BS candidate in Physical Geography and Conservation. Isabel has pieces accepted into two previous juried shows (Duck and Engendering Change). She has received the Judith Richardson Fine Arts Scholarship for her junior and senior years of college. She worked as the program assistant in the ASU Rare A.I.R. program. During her earlier years she showed and sold pieces in the youth section of the Traditional Spanish Market held in Santa Fe. Isabel makes figure drawings that focus on capturing the spirit and essence of the figure. She likes to include elements of nature in her piece and bring attention to the mundane miracles that often get overlooked and go unadmired. When Isabel is not making art or doing field work she can be found in the kitchen baking and salsa dancing, or laughing her head off watching 80s rom coms. Isabel's future plans include attending graduate school for Scientific Illustrating, where she would like to pursue a career with the National Parks service using her scientific illustration skills to catalog plants in the parks.
